Hermanus has been recognised by the WWF - World Wildlife Fund - as one of the 12 best whale watching destinations in the world.

The best time to enjoy whale watching in Hermanus is between July and November either from the beach, the famous cliff path, by boat, or from the air via a scenic flight. The cliff path offers 12km of the best whale watching viewpoints in the world, stretching from one end of Hermanus to the other. At certain points, whales can be seen playing as close as five meters from shore.

Southern Right Whales migrate into the coastal waters around the Cape each year, arriving between July and November. This tour takes you along a coastal route to the town of Hermanus, which is regarded as being one of the world's best land-based whale watching sites. These unique creatures visit the warmer waters along the South African coast each year to calve and mate.

Whales are not the only attraction on this tour as we travel through several seaside towns and mountain passes. The coastal beauty is unsurpassed along the route and allows you to experience what lies beyond the city.
The seascapes remain spectacular at every turn and we visit the Botanical Gardens at Betty's Bay before arriving at the town of Hermanus. Enjoy a good lunch at one of the most unique restaurants in the world, Bientang's Cave.

After lunch, you can explore the old harbour with its fascinating Whale and Shark museum as well as an open market for some shopping.

The return journey takes us through the apple orchards of the Boland (Highland) with spectacular mountain passes. This tour guarantees to be interesting and informative and can be enjoyed all year around, however, it is at its best during the Whale season ? July to November. Before heading home, we stop for a wine tasting that will end a remarkable day with good wine and awesome views.

The tour starts and ends anywhere in Cape Town as the tour is private.
