The Aardvark's Burrow is a rustic unit attached to the Old Church Hall, one of the oldest buildings in Nieu Bethesda. Aardvark's Burrow can accommodate 4 guests with a double bed and two single beds.

Life in Nieu Bethesda potters along much as it did 130 years ago, when the village was founded. Stone water furrows still line the wide, dusty streets. Night skycaps are unpolluted by streetlights, and the air is still fresh and clean.

Famous for Helen Martins Owlhouse, Nieu-Bethesda has become a haven for artists and those looking for a quieter life. Browse for interesting reads at Dustcovers bookshop or spend an afternoon beer tasting at our villages own micro Brewary. Explore the many galleries and eateries on offer and get a taste of the country life.

Nieu Bethesda has a working network of furrows, with water supplied daily from a spring on the plateau above the village. Residents channel water into their gardens using smaller gated funnels. Visitors can hike along the furrows up to the spring or prearrange a hike up Kompasberg or through the Canyon on neighboring farms.

Pets are welcome by arrangement

AARDVARK'S BURROW RESENSIES (50%)


We had Aardvark's Burrow booked, with availability confirmed, when soon after we received a direct email to say it's no longer available, and that our booking has been changed to the Water Tower.  This turned out to be two tiny rooms with the bedroom up a potentially unsafe ladder and an outside toilet.  When we declined its suitability, we were with friendliness changed to the smaller of the two Two Owls cottages which were very comfortable and clean.  Here we spent two magic nights in the most charming little village in the country, so much more in its charm, adventure and culinary delights than just the Owl House itself, a most. most interesting experience in itself!

Aardvark's Burrow was unavailable and we were accommodated at Allaman's Huis.
It was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our overnight stay.
