Aberfoyle Lodge

Set amongst the tea estates of the Eastern Highlands Plantations in the Honde Valley and tropical Riparian Forest, this unique lodge has got to be Zimbabwe's best-kept travel secret. The lodge provides luxurious accommodation for guests and is the ideal venue for family reunions, small conferences or as a quiet getaway.

Affordable meals are served all day from the restaurant whilst the well-stocked bar will keep even the thirstiest guest well hydrated and cool in the heat of the Honde Valley. The lodge boasts a 9-hole golf course, a swimming pool, a squash court, table tennis, a dartboard, a pub, a snooker room and a lounge with DStv.

Apart from the wonderful services and facilities at the lodge, there are guides on hand to take guests horse riding on the many trails surrounding the lodge, birding, canoeing and fishing on the Wamba Dam, and arboreal walks through the tropical Riparian Forests. Guided tours of the Wamba Tea Factory and the hydroelectricity plant can be organised. Guests can purchase choice tea as well as visit the Carving Factory.

Special mention must be made of the birding. Aberfoyle is unique in its variety of avi-fauna and at an altitude of only 500 m, it complements the nearby high altitude birding destinations of the Montane Forests and the grasslands of Far and Wide's wild Nyanga resorts.

In addition, Far and Wide Zimbabwe offers incredible whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Pungwe River and will soon be introducing tree canopy tours and rope courses, as well as orienteering and extended overnight hikes into the remote mountain wilderness areas that surround the lodge.
