A mere 40 minute drive from the Kosi Bay border, along a sandy 4x4 route you will find Aloha Estate. If your idea of a holiday is a luxury home on a remote beach then this is the house.
Aloha house number 1 is situated in the beachfront row of houses and has its own private wooden walkway, elevated above the dune vegetation, leading from the private swimming pool directly onto the beach. This house has its own private, built gazebo on the beach and furnished with a table and chairs. Relax under the shady gazebo while watching your kids play on the beach.
The house consists of four bedrooms and one living area and has a ?shabby chic' beach décor feel with the local input of reeded blinds and natural fabrics. The architectural layout is in such a way that the bedrooms are privately situated from one other.
Each bedroom is comfortably furnished with linen, bed throws, bedside tables and lamps. Two bedrooms are sea facing and have one queen-size bed per bedroom, both bedrooms have en suite bathrooms. The other two bedrooms are garden facing and have one double and one single bed per bedroom, both these bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. The four bathrooms have a shower, basin and toilet. Bath towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels along. There are ceiling fans above all the beds. This house can comfortably accommodate 10 people.
The open plan lounge, kitchen and dining room area is situated separately to the bedrooms, have your morning coffee in the living area overlooking the pristine beach and protected marine reserve area without disturbing those wanting to have a late sleep.The kitchen is fully-equipped for self-catering and includes a four hob gas stove (no oven), large fridge/freezer, washing machine and microwave. All you need to bring along is your food, drinks and drinking water. Dishwashing liquid, handy andy and other cleaning materials are provided.
Outside there is a swimming pool with sun loungers. There is a gas braai. No wood or charcoal braais are allowed due to the thatch roof. Fredericos snorkeling spot is short 10 minute stroll down the beach. Ensure you take snorkeling gear along!
For cell phones, international roaming is required, or a local Mozambique sim card can be purchased. If you wish to have 3G, bring your own Wi-Fi router that connects to the Mozambique Vodacom (Buy a local sim card and convert voice time to data).
There is a Dive Centre at the Malongane Campsite, it is a 15-minute drive from the house. You can hire dive gear from the centre. Deep sea fishing charters as well as Swimming with Dolphins takes place from certain activity centers in Ponta do Ouro.
Turtles lay their eggs between Nov and February which you can witness if you take a stroll on the beach in the evenings after dark. The hatchlings make their way to the ocean from Jan to March. Humpback and Southern Right Whale sightings are prolific from July to Nov. Pods of dolphins can be seen all year round. Lastly, the Elephant Game Park is 20 kilometres northwest of the beach house.
There are a few restaurants in Ponta Malongane. They have a local Portuguese flavour, are fairly rustic with beautiful views over Sugi Lake. They are a 15-minute drive from the house.
Ponta D'Ouro has a bank, bottle store, pharmacy, surf shops, fishing tackle shop, deli, hardware store, petrol station, internet cafe, supermarket, (limited) craft and curio market and a colourful food market where you can buy fruit and veg are grown locally, alcohol, cigarettes, airtime, prawns, cashews, bread and the like. Quad bikes, surfboards and kite surfing equipment can be hired, and lessons are available in Ponta D'ouro.
There is a full time housekeeper. She cleans, makes beds, washes dishes. A compulsory staff tip of R70 per day is to be paid to her on your departure date. This includes your arrival and departure days.
