Ambre Cottage is a rustic little unit offering a long open sitting room containing a dining table, two single beds and table, stove, fridge and cooking facilities. It opens out to a front porch overlooking a green belt, Dawids Kraal, and the blue sea.
The cottage is extremely private, with its own driveway and at a fair distance from the main house, under a large filao tree. The front porch is very sheltered from the South Easter and barbecue facilities can be provided. Between the cottage and main house is a garden displaying a large wisteria and many proteas, pin-cushions, Erica, and Restios.
The road meanders down to a large vlei, which in turn offers other paths down to the Betty's Bay main beach - most invigorating for a good evening walk. A path from the house leads down next to the Dawids Kraal River to a popular picnic spot and a good fishing beach, as well as the main beach. Looking back one can see Ambre house and cottage tucked below the mountain.
