Boesmanskloof Accommodation - Die Galg was built 30 years ago and is located on the McGregor side of the Riviersonderend Mountains, at the start and end of the Boesmanskloof hiking trail. Boesmanskloof Accommodation - Die Galg offers ideal overnight accommodation for hikers on the trail and guests wanting to get away from the city.
Guests can choose between the comfortable Stone Barn Huts or one of the lovely white Thatch Cottages. All accommodation is self-catering and all units are equipped with crockery, cutlery and cookware, as well as electricity, a two-plate stove and a kettle. Each unit also features an indoor fireplace and is furnished with single beds. The bathrooms consist of showers only and bedding is provided. Wood is available at and additional cost and must be ordered before arrival.
Guests can make use of the swimming pool, the jungle gym will keep the children entertained, and the 11 km Rooikrantzberg Rocky 4x4 Route will keep the adventurous busy. A selection of hiking trails can be found in the area, but please note a permit is needed to do the well-known Boesmanskloof/Die Galg Trail.
Oak Falls is half way to Greyton and is the ideal place for a rest and to enjoy the rock pool. Plant lovers can enjoy identifying the Cape fynbos and other beautiful flowers including Compacta, Repens, Speldekussings, Heide and much more. The variety of eagles, owls, Malachite sunbird and much more can also be seen by the avid bird watcher, and small, shy antelope are frequently seen browsing close to the cottages. Go for a picnic and enjoy the view with coffee or wine and enjoy the fresh mountain air and the peaceful atmosphere.
Grocery purchases can also be done on behalf of hikers before arrival, at a cost of 20% of the total value of the groceries purchased. Boesmanskloof is situated 16 km from McGregor and can accommodate groups of up to 60 - ideal for church and school camps.
