Bohemian Garden Cottages is situated in the picturesque mountainous village of Kaapsehoop, on the Mpumalanga Escarpment, near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. It's run by artist couple Charl and Andrea Fourie, who opened their doors on this magic mountain in 2011.
The cottages are perfect for a family or groups travelling together, as the units are arranged around the communal braai area and lounge with a fireplace. Firewood is for sale in the little shop, or bring your own. The Bohemian Garden Cottages comprise of five comfortable garden units situated 100 metres from the restaurant.
Miner's Cottage can accommodate two people and comprises a queen-sized bed, en-suite bathroom, small kitchenette. The Log Cottage can accommodate a family of six people, one bathroom with bath and shower and fully equipped kitchen. The Trading Cottage can accommodate six people, there are three bedrooms, one bathroom with shower, fully equipped kitchen and large communal veranda. Digger's Cottage can accommodate two people with twin beds, en-suite bathroom and small kitchenette. The Stable Cottage accommodates two people, it has twin beds, en-suite bathroom and a small kitchenette.
Activities include birdwatching, ghost tours and Adam's Calendar tours - all can be booked at the restaurant. Walking trails, horse riding and rock climbing are favourite activities. Scootours are also offered, they are non-motorised downhill scooter tours. There are three restaurants and one Pub in the village, closing at various times, and one Little Shop, selling the bare essentials like cigarettes, ice, bread and milk.
The annual Kaapsche Hoop Wild Horse Festival is held throughout the village during the first weekend in September and offers stalls, pony rides, farrier demo's, foodie crawls, wine tasting, games, Miss Pony Tail, live music, art exhibitions and fun for the whole family.
