Burgherspost Wine Estate is nestled in the Darling Wine Route, at the foot of the picturesque Dassenberg Granite Hill. Come and experience the best of both wine and nature at our private wine cellar, with arguably the best Shiraz in the country.

Two self-catering cottages are set at the foot of our renosterveld granite koppie. Each of the stylish self-catering, air-conditioned cottages include a king size bed with en-suite bathroom and fully-equipped kitchen. The lounge leads out onto the patio which has stunning views over dams, vineyards and mountains.

Our private game reserve is a botanical hotspot, especially during flower season from mid August to end September, with over twenty rare and endangered species already identified. Our next door neighbour, Cape Nature's Pella Research Reserve, has the highest number of endangered species for any reserve in the country, but is unfortunately closed to the public. On Burgherspost however, you can enjoy a guided drive and explore our rich biodiversity first hand.

On a guided game drive you will also encounter some of South Africa's most renowned game and bird species including gemsbok, bontebok, eland, Red hartebeest, springbok, zebra and numerous other smaller mammals such as duiker, steenbok, porcupine, honey badger, Cape clawless otter, and Yellow mongoose. Our top predators include caracal, the African wild cat and the Cape fox.

We also have healthy bird populations and you can expect to see secretary birds, blue cranes, yellow-billed ducks, fish eagles, black harriers, jackal buzzards, bokmakieries, malachite sun birds, namaqua doves, cape canaries and at dusk the spotted eagle owl, barn owl and fiery-necked nightjars.

At Cloof, come and taste our award winning wines while sitting down to a delectable a-la-carte meal. And rates are per person sharing and include a wine tasting and a guided cellar tour. Cloof will also sponsor a bottle or two of wine for you to enjoy during your stay. Also included in the rate is a two hour game drive through our private nature reserve by our conservation manager.

Lovely peaceful spot by

Very comfortable, well kitted out cottage in a beautiful setting. Very large friendly dogs! Didn't get to the wine tasting, but the two bottles left in the room were excellent. Again, didn't manage the game drive, but the comments about it in the Visitors Book were very positive. Would have loved to have stayed longer.

Great stay at Burgherpost by

Once we found you we had a wonderful couple of days at Burgherpost.
The rooms were extremely well equipped and very clean.
It was lovely to sit out at night and watch the moon reflect over the dams.
Would highly reccommend.

Hello

We decided to pay Darling a visit and make it into an over night stay. We did a bit of research and decided to give your establishment a try. Your website hinted at what we could expect..

To say we were pleasantly surprised is an understatement.
The cottage besides being very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, had these little personal welcoming touches, that made it stand head and shoulders above all the other places we have visited.

Who ever is in charge of managing the cottages is doing a sterling job..
Fresh cut flowers in the living room and the bath room..I wish this was done more often @ other places...

The little munchies were enjoyed as well. And how thoughtful to include a half liter of milk !
The sufficient toiletries(also something that a lot of establishments don't concentrate on) were very welcome. You will have no idea how something as simple as sufficient hand wash and full sized soap bars are appreciated by guests.

Our hosts were also friendly and welcoming.

We are sure you get told often, that the farm is breath taking. We will add to that, by saying not only is the farm beautiful, but it is your attention to detail at your cottages (the fresh flowers , the munchies etc) that make a stay on your farm, a wonderful unforgettable experience.

If we were to give Burgherspost a rating , it would be nothing less than five stars..this place is excellent!

Please do continue with what you are doing and we will continue singing the praises of your lovely establishment. On our drive back home , we were already planning a return visit : -).

Regards
Wayne and Yolande

Perfect! by

Perfect to the smallest detail. Recommend 100% Wish we could stay longer.

Refreshing and peaceful by

Apart from a friendly welcome, we were left to enjoy the clean air, natural surroundings, birding and walking around the farm and it's vines. Our stay was most relaxing and peaceful.
