Bushwhacked is a self-catering house in Barberton situated on the edge of town backing onto an uninhabited valley, with spectacular views.

Accommodation is offered in clean, comfortable double rooms, all of which have access to a communal kitchen, lounge and dining area. The rooms each have a name, so once you know Bushwhacked you can request the room that you prefer. Linen and bath towels are provided.

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, and the lounge area features a TV and a DVD player. There is also a braai area with amazing views over the valley. Your hosts live on the property, in ?The Woodshed' in the back garden. There are two mountain bikes available for guests to use.

Bushwhacked is situated just outside the old gold rush town of Barberton which has a rich history, a lot of which can still be seen and explored. The Barberton Museum is just one stop on an historical walking trail taking in several of the original 1880's gold mining houses.
The house is set in the foothills of the Makonjwa Mountains just 40 minutes from Nelspruit. This is a welcoming, comfortable and affordable place for people to relax and unwind whilst exploring the area.

If you walk out of the back door of Bushwhacked and up the mountain you'll have a wooded valley all to yourself where you can spot a variety of animal species and bird life whilst following in the footsteps of some of the first gold prospectors on The Fortuna Mine Tunnel Trail. There is also a well-known birding area, a pocket of indigenous forest, known as 'Pedlars bush', close by. It's possible to explore the old Gold Rush town of Eureka City by quadbike or get an overview of the valley on a scenic microlight flight.
The scenic and fascinating GeoTrail World Heritage site can be explored independently or with an accompanying Geologist Guide.
Bushwhacked is the ideal stopover between The Kruger National Park, Swaziland and the northern Kwa-Zulu-Natal coast and game parks.

Lovely stay! by

We spent two nights at Bushwacked and it was lovely. So close to town yet far enough to enjoy total peace and quiet. Pete told us about hikes and we spent both mornings exploring the old mine shaft and tunnel. Definitely for adventure seekers.

weekend of 6-9 August 2015 by

We stayed at Skips shack.  The place is clean and we had a pleasant stay.  It was quite difficult to find his place.  But he phoned us and gave us directions.

Basic, but comfy cottage by

A neat stay in a garden that overlooks Barberton. It's in town, but on the outskirts with a good view and next to the fence. The small cottage is definitely the most private option available here. Everything was clean and there's tea, coffee, sugar and a plunger which is great. Good value for money, but very basic. A decent overnight stop!

Sonsondergang was pragtig! by

Het net daar oornag oppad Swaziland toe, maar was baie ingenome met plek. Sal dit aanbeveel.

Wonderfull chaletin Barbeton by

I have loved the place, and a readiness of the accommodation on arrival. Kathy the owner was very helpfull and friendly. I do recommend that the braai stand to be improved. Otherwise superb. Will arrive again.
