Cavers Country Home is a 4 Star graded luxury accommodation in a 140-year-old double-storey manor house and thatched garden cottage, which are both situated in magnificent garden and mountain setting. The stone-built guest house was built in 1860, as can be seen from the spacious rooms, high ceilings, wooden floors and wooden staircase. There is throughout a sense of graciousness seldom found these days.
The house has been superbly modernised to the highest standards to provide all modern conveniences without compromising the essential ambience. All rooms are provided with DStv and Wi-Fi. Guests can pick and choose from four luxuriously appointed en-suite bedrooms. All the bedrooms offer delightful views either onto the garden or over the beautiful Cowie River valley to the mountains beyond. The lounge is huge and comfortably furnished with a fireplace to make the room cosy on cold nights.
For the convenience of our guests there is a separate sitting room equipped with television and an honesty bar. The gracious dining room looks out onto a patio and a private garden with a large swimming pool which are for the exclusive use of the guests. Elsewhere in the grounds stands a charming cottage offering two spacious and comfortable en-suite bedrooms.
From the kitchen comes fine country cuisine. Farm lamb, beef and venison, prepared to your preference with a home grown selection of fresh farm vegetables. Candlelit dinners are served in the dining room of the main stone double-storey homestead. A traditional barbecue around the pool or in the veld under the African stars is also a favourite. English or continental breakfasts are served on the patio or in the guest dining room. Homemade bread, butter, preserves, cheese and yogurts are offered.
Activities available to guests include tennis on a clay court, hikes and walks through forest and hills, game viewing, birdwatching with 250 species to spot, mountain bike trails, fishing for bass and trout, and swimming.
