Nestled in the picturesque Agter-Pakhuis Valley, 26 km from Clanwilliam en route to the historic Wuperthal village, you will find de Pakhuys Guest Farm which belongs to the Kruger and Botha families. The Kruger family, originally from Cape Town, visited the area in 2003 and couldn't resist having a piece of this paradise to themselves. They subsequently bought a piece of land in this magnificent valley and decided to renovate cottages on the farm and share the splendour of the Cedarberg with visitors. The cottages and guests are cared for by partners and friends, Thys and Karin Kruger, and Mark and Marinda Botha.

DE PAKHUYS RESENSIES (81 %) Impressed by Annemarie Dreyer, South Africa 08 January 2009 We were extremely impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the host. The setting is as peaceful as can be, and we had everything we needed. We almost felt like we were visiting family. Beautiful by Lizelle Torr, South Africa 11 August 2015 Very chilled out lovely place The Waterfall huke by Kristie Smit 03 September 2017 The cabin is perfect. It is cosy and clean and has everything you nerd. The braai area was also very nicely situated. We had a very nice escape and enjoyed the nature all around. Dismal, will never recommend Shocking experience by Lara De Matos 08 January 2018 Arrived at reception at 5pm for our stay at their campsite. Waited around for 40 minutes with no assistance, despite ringing the bell. No signal anywhere meant we were unable to phone any of the numbers we had. Not even cleaning ladies would attempt to help us in finding the owner or manager and gave curt surly replies, and told us to just wait. We saw a sheet indicating allotted campsites and our name was not on there. After 40 minutes, we got gatvol and decided to drive to the campsite. This was a few kilometres from the reception office. Once there, the office on the campsite was also locked and closed, and we couldn't find anyone. We also could not determine where a possible open site would be. We talked to a few people only to discover that the sites weren't even numbered correctly, with some sites having a 7 in front of it but a 4 pinned to the tree. By now I was getting irritated. It also became clear to us that the owners of this establishment were booking far more people in than they had campsites for, as we found lots of people on the periphery of the assigned campsites having just made a space for themselves between trees and in the shade of the mountain. This seemed to me quite greedy of the owners as there are only so many ablutions and facilities and they seemed to have added twice as many groups as there are sites. My boyfriend decided to go back to the reception office. When he got there, he finally found someone and they told him we had no booking. This despite us having paid AND receiving a confirmation via Safari Now of our campsite as well as the email to confirm our stay a few days ahead of the booking. It's a good thing I wasn't there because I would have totally lost it. I had booked and confirmed as far back as 29 May and now we weren't even getting a proper campsite in the shaded area, but were told to just squash in next to someone on the edge of the campsites. We finally started setting up camp TWO HOURS after arriving and after a long day's driving. As it was on the edge and not properly assigned to us, we had to request from the people that did have a proper campsite to extend their power to us as well. The best is, our neighbours to the left were ridiculously noisy with music pumping loudly, which was alright until it ended up going till 23:30!! The owner drove up around 20:30 and spoke to our neighbours to the right, saying: "How do you like this music?" to which they responded "Not really" and to which he replied "Well, have a good night then" and drove off!! Unbelievable. Poor service, poor organisation, lost booking, paid and booked well in advance for nothing, and then the owner can't even manage the campsite and tell other campers to respect the rules. Farcical. Never in my life have I camped in such dodge circumstances with such poor management. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. Sadly, if our paid booking had been remembered and someone had met us at reception OR at camp or our name was at least on the campsite sheet, we may have had a totally different experience as the Clanwilliam area is quite beautiful. Very disappointed. Establishments response: Thank you for the candid , honest feedback. I am really so sorry to hear about your experience. This is totally unacceptable and certainly not the norm for our establishment! I have investigated the matter and took this up with our manager - and you are correct ? the booking did not end up on our booking server. This is clearly an oversight on our side, not on Safarinow's side, for which we extend a sincere apology. We have put systems in place to ensure this does not ever happen again. Wonderful nvironment by Marcel Richard 22 February 2018 We loved the place but regretted that there is no crokery at all, nor cutlery and plates.
We enjoyed our stay though and would recommend it specifying the above.
