Grasp some fresh farm air, discover the picturesque white dunes of De Hoop Nature Reserve, and enjoy the best attractions the Overberg has to share. Die Blouhuis is a self-catering farmhouse conveniently set between the towns of Swellendam and Bredasdorp. Offering you the opportunity to explore a wide range of tourist must-sees, including the Breederiver Wine Route. The house has no electricity, which make it a remarkable experience and very romantic. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a gas stove&oven and a gas fridge&freezer. There is a solar geyser, backed by a modern gas geyser to ensure everyone gets a hot bath. A barrel of firewood is provided for the inside fireplace. Guests can feel free to bring their hiking gear or mountain bikes to explore the farm and the area. The Blouhuis can accommodate up to five guests in two bedrooms. Bedding and towels are provided. The house is very private, and is a quiet getaway for nature lovers.

We went to the Blouhuis to get away from city noise, Barking dogs, car street sounds, and stress of hectic life in the city. We found wide open spaces, silent nights in black ink rooms and back to basics living where it was inevitable that you came away calmed. There were birds aplenty to discover and fields of wheat to gaze across. We had a restful and simple time. De Hoop was closely and the route home via Bredasdorp was a fun alternative to the N2.

We enjoyed our stay at the Blouhuis which had sweeping vistas and is well located to explore the overberg region. The host was very friendly and helpful. We will be back.
