El Karama Eco Lodge

El Karama Eco Lodge is a family-run lodge located in the heart of Laikipia, on El Karama Ranch, a 14 000 acre cattle ranch with stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife and birds. Guests can enjoy direct views of Mount Kenya, the Aberdares and the Lolldaiga hills.

The lodge offers six stone and thatch cottages and canvas bandas, a beautiful central mess area with a large fireplace, a bar and cosy reading areas that overlook the Ewaso Nyiro river and a natural salt lick. The lodge is rustic and lovingly put together, made from natural materials found on El Karama, combined with the flair of a very artistic family.

All cottages and bandas have en-suite bathrooms, except the Rondavel of which is just a step outside. Clean drinking water is provided in the rooms and dining rooms every day. Hot water is available via solar heating and wood-fire boosting, using harvested fallen wood.

The lodge is hosted by an excellent local team of staff and overseen by the Grant family who live there. Guests can enjoy accompanied bush walks, game drives, night drives, sundowners, bush meals and farm visits.

We have solar electricity in all bandas for lighting and charging points for cameras, however not suitable for hair dryers or other heat devices. There is no mobile phone signal at the lodge, however it is available on the nearest ridge.
