Sunshine pours into this spacious self-catering house on the northern edge of Nieu Bethesda. Elke's Guesthouse has great views of the Kompasberg and surrounding Sneeuberg Mountains from the bedrooms, the lounge area and garden. Elke's is wheel-chair friendly.

The guest has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a well-equipped open-plan kitchen, a dining area, a lounge area with fireplace and a large garden with braai facilities. Elke's can accommodate up to seven guests comfortably and pets are welcome by arrangement. Accommodation in Nieu Bethesda is both comfortable and quirky and offers all you need to make your stay memorable.

Life in Nieu Bethesda potters along much as it did 130 years ago, when the village was founded. Stone water furrows still line the wide, dusty streets. Night skycaps are unpolluted by streetlights and the air is still fresh and clean.

Nieu Bethesda has a working network of furrows, with water supplied daily from a spring on the plateau above the village. Residents channel water into their gardens using smaller gated funnels. Visitors can hike along the furrows up to the spring or prearrange a hike up Kompasberg mountain or through the Canyon on one of the surrounding farms.

The area around Nieu-Bethesda is good for either a leisurely ride or a challenging ride for serious mountain bikers. Wake up early to conquer one of the two mountain bike trails in the area or take a leisurely walk around the village to search out galleries, bookshops and eateries at your leisure.

Had everything we needed. I would have liked a top flat sheet as well, but that is just me. Nieu Bethesda is a wonderful little town. We will be returning for a longer stay for sure.

We had a wonderful stay in the most incredible little place in the world. the house was clean and comfortable and we had a lovely evening braai watching the sunset over the mountains

We had a wonderful stay at Elke's Guesthouse with our family. The place was clean and well stocked with all the appliances we needed. Perfect for a weekend getaway. We did however have some cold showers as the warm water ran out very quickly!! Other than that, wonderful stay! Thank you!
