Gansbaai Lodge and Backpackers is situated in centre of the shark-diving capital of the world, Gansbaai, which is a short two-hour drive from Cape Town. This choice Gansbaai accommodation overlooks the traditional fishing harbour, with stunning panoramic sea views which can be enjoyed from the sundowner deck, in-house pub and outside barbecue area.

The lodge prides itself on providing quality, clean student travel, backpacking and youth hostel accommodation to independent travellers and international backpackers alike. Accommodation comprises large rooms which are not overcrowded, providing the perfect Gansbaai youth hostel accommodation and base for your holiday. The luxury Family Bedroom has a full en-suite bathroom, an extra-large double bed and a twin bunk bed, while the three dormitory rooms sleep only four guests each. Gansbaai forms part of the Whale Coast with the Walker Bay Whale Sanctuary providing a nursery to southern right, bryde and humpback whales which are easily observed from the shore or on a boat-based whale watching tour. Dyer Island is a breeding colony for African penguins and Cape fur seals. The narrow channel between Geyser Rock and Dyer Island is home to around 60,000 seals and is a feeding ground of the endangered great white shark.
