Iona Cottage is a fully furnished self-catering cottage located in the secluded Swartland area, set in a rose garden with walnut trees. Clarens village square is less than a 10-minute stroll away and an all-inclusive view of the surrounding mountains features high Mount Horeb, which rises to the east of Iona.

The cottage comprises a fully equipped kitchen with a stove, microwave, fridge and all the necessary cutlery and crockery. The unit also features a dining and sitting room decorated in both period and new furniture with original paintings.

The cottage sleeps 4, in two bedrooms. A small mattress is available for an additional child if own linen is provided by the guests. The main bedroom is en-suite and has a queen-size extra-length bed, while the second bedroom has two single beds with access to its own bathroom. Features include underfloor heating in the bedrooms, a TV (Family Package DSTV), gas heater, barbecue facilities, and a car port. The property is fully fenced behind a locked gate.

Great view of mountains by

We really enjoyed our stay at Iona. We loved the stoep and fenced garden. Our dogs enjoyed it too! It is in a very quite part of Clarens, we slept like babies. The only thing that can be improved is the gate. It is difficult to open and close, but after some practice we managed!

Quaint cottage in the mountains by

We had a lovely break at Iona Cottage. The cottage is well-situated - close enough to town for a quick drive or a nice walk and far enough not to "in town". The garden is really lovely and perfect for kids to play in with some nice chestnut trees. The interior is not modern however if you like the idea of staying at your beloved aunt's house in the country, then you'll be quite happy. There is a really great patio with a weber. The beds were comfortable with decent bedding. The bathrooms (2) are good (nice shower). If you are a foodie, the kitchen is quite small. It has what you need but there is very little surface space to if you're planning to cook up a storm, this might be a problem. There are lots of lovely restaurants in the town though so you don't really need to cook if you don't want to. Restaurant tips: Good all-rounder: The Courtyard Bakery and Café (good coffee, lovely breakfasts and lunches, nice bakery) Lunch or supper: Mosaic Pizzeria (great wood-fired pizza and delicious salads. Service not great but worth going) Supper: Gosto Portuguese Restaurant (bit more fancy, very good food. Coffee was very bad.) Coffee: Highlands Coffee Roastery. They only do coffee but its very good (do not get a takeaway though, then its not great) BEER: Clarens Brewery - do yourself a favour and have a blonde and some chips!!! Other things to do: There are some really lovely walking trails, they are not tough and should not be missed.

It rated very well for the price, so no change. If you upgrade the cottage you will have to change the price tag. We will definately use Iona again, it was quiet and the views beautiful.

Lovely little cottage with a stunning view by

We enjoyed our stay at Iona Cottage a lot.It was very clean and tidy.It was so nice in the morning to shower in a bathroom with sunshine!The underfloor heating and electric blankets were a nice bonus.It was a bit of a disappointment that the heater in the guest bathroom didn't work.We want to thank Dolores and her team for the excellent service we received.The view was stunning.You could see the mountains from mostly every room in the house.If we have the opportunity we will definitely visit Iona Cottage again.

Peacefull and Tranquil Cottage by

The venue was very clean and immaculate. very quite and peaceful if you want to get away from the madness of city life. however the gas heater was faulty and therefore we were cold during our stay. but there are electric blankets and underfloor heating in the 2 bedroom. The heater is the one bathroom was not working as well. Our stay was pleasant and relaxing except for the few niggles.
