Leeu Gamka Hotel was build in 1898 and revamped 1920. The Hotel is situated on the N1 from Cape Town to Johannesburg, between Laingsburg and Beaufort Wes.

lt was the First Hotel that was granted a Hotel Liquor License in this part of the Karoo. In 1925 Bennie Frank was granted a License for the Bottle Store. Walking distance from the Hotel is graves of soldiers of the Anglo Boer War that broke out in 1899, the Blockhouse on the banks of the Leeu River was build in 1901.

The ruins of this stone blockhouse can still be seen. It is a home away from home.
