After reviewing the costs of the hotels in the area, I checked on other types of accommodation. There were recommendations for Lorrie's so I booked with her a one room with air conditioning for four nights.
Pre-arrival, Lorrie was very helpful with helping me choose the right visa and offered to help with transfers/tours.
I did get to Victoria Falls a day late due to an issue with South African Airways.
On arrival at Lorrie's, George showed me to my room. It was a decent size and was functional. The bathroom could use some improvements (a new showerhead would go a long way). The air conditioner, while functional, was loud and did not direct air to the bed due to the layout of the room (L shaped). I think a higher end air conditioner would reduce the noise and if was repositioned on the other wall air would be better directed. I had a hard time deciding at night whether to bear the noise or the hot air.
The wifi only worked at the main building, but I knew this going in.
There is a good little bar area for guests and locals alike to share stories. The drinks were reasonably priced.
I had breakfast all three days, the third day I had a full breakfast complete with eggs and bacon. There is a good variety of items to chose from depending on your desire.
I also took advantage of dinner two nights - one was a lasagna and the other was pork chops. Both were delicious.
Lorrie has several dogs and I played catch with Jojo a few times on the open lawn. There is also a small outdoor pool (I did not take advantage of).
Both George and Lorrie offered assistance when I had issues with pickup from the tour company I booked with.
All in all it was a good stay. I would definitely consider staying here again if I were to return to the area. I think a few small improvements would go a long way to creating a better room experience. I understand that Lorrie is considering a small expansion and is currently upgrading some of the other rooms.
