Maasai Simba Camp is in Merrueshi Group Ranch close to Amboseli National Park at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The camp is a historical site formerly used by the Maasai warriors for training. It has been restored and made accessible for adventure travelers seeking to have authentic cultural and safari experience with the Maasai. The entire camp is nestled under a canopy of indigenous acacia trees on the banks of Kiboko River.
The camp offers eight cottages and three Hemingway style tents - each with its own private veranda. Each tent has a simple yet elegant design and is beautifully furnished. The cottages are made of volcanic rocks, with floors made of mazera stones, and thatch roof.
Activities include daily walking safaris lead by Maasai warriors, bead -making lessons facilitated by Maasai Women Co-operatives, a tour to local Maasai villages, local schools and the village clinic, storytelling sessions by Maasai elders around the bonfire and a vibrant Maasai warrior dance held at the night before departure.
Guests will also have a chance to go on a bird watching safari with English speaking guides. Every morning starts with a safari walk into the bush with Maasai warriors. This program is ideal for people interested for experience beyond a typical safari. A minimum of two consecutive nights at Maasai Simba Camp is suggested in order for guests to get the most out of their visit.
