Surrounded by 7,000 hectares of private concession, Mkulumadzi enjoys an idyllic location at the confluence of two rivers. It's the perfect combination of splendid isolation and first class facilities.
The main lodge area comprises a restaurant, a lounge and a terrace, a bar, a shop, a fire-making area, a viewing deck and a swimming pool. The eight luxury chalets are tucked beneath the surrounding riverine forest of Marula, Leadwood trees and Star Chestnut trees. Each comprises a spacious bedroom and lounge area, an en-suite bathroom with sunk-in bath and double basins, an outdoor double shower and a private viewing deck. Both bedrooms in the family chalets are en-suite and are separated by a common lounge and deck area; these units are ideal for groups of four.
Activities on offer are game drives, bush walks, hiking on Majete Hill, game viewing from hides, boating safaris, birding trips on the Shire River and cultural tours. The establishment is solar powered, with a back-up generator; plugs in the chalets can only be used for lamps and charging equipment for mobile phones or cameras. Hot water is delivered in the early mornings for your tea and coffee. The tap water is from a borehole and is safe for drinking; bottled water is also provided throughout the lodge.
