Basking on the tranquil shores of Lake Nhambavale, just 1,2 km from the beach, Nhambavale Lodge offers fully serviced and fully catered, airy Machop-style chalets, rondavels, and 12 spacious campsites. The restaurant and bar area is situated on the lake itself, and offers a menu of seafood, special local dishes, traditional favourites and our famous peri-peri chicken.
The rondavels, built in a local straw-roof style sleep two guests and have either en-suite or private bathroom facilities. The other four units are chalets and can sleep up to four guests in two rooms. The chalets are equipped with en-suite bathrooms as well as a fully fitted kitchen for self-catering. Lastly, the Casa Grande, our largest chalet, offers four double bedrooms, a dining area, and a kitchen with a fridge, cooker, cutlery and crockery. All the units are also equipped with mosquito nets for guests' convenience. The campsites, each accommodating up to eight people, are located in the spacious and trim garden area, complete with bricked barbecue areas, water taps, electric power points, and shady straw roof areas.
Whether you fish rock and surf, elegantly cast flies for the elusive kingfish, or take to deeper water in a ski-boat, the exciting Chidenguele coast has it all. For the rock and surf enthusiast, our waters are renowned for kingfish, stumpnose, pompano and bonefish. There are also a number of unbelievable deep water ledges to fish off where king mackerel, ignobilis kingfish and giant barracuda are frequently caught, while fly-fishers will find some of the best fly-fishing in Mozambique, off our beaches and rock ledges.
Other activities include snorkelling and spear-fishing, whale watching, swimming, bronzing on the beach, bird watching, and visiting the large swamplands. If you would rather stay on the lake, the lodge has canoes and kayaks for hire. There is also a beach-volleyball court on the mini lakeside beach. The bar area offers a variety of board games, books and darts, as well as a TV with satellite to watch the rugby, and for the kids, there are a variety of animals at the lodge.
