Good view by

The view is great however, I am disappointed in the service/ cleaning fee I had to pay. During our stay we did not have a daily cleaning service which I was under the impression we had paid for. The money we paid was for cleaning the flat after we left. The amount seems high about R100 per day for when we leave but while we there we do all the cleaning etc ourselves.

Establishment's response:

I am sorry that the cleaning fee was misleading, but it is pretty standard with most self catering vacation rentals, unlike a hotel where cleaning fee is a fixed operating expense. This rate could be charged at the rental agency, paid cash at the establishment or some incorporate it in the nightly fee.

As a host, my cleaning cost is a per stay expense. One way or another it is getting passed on to the guest, and it is more accurate to reflect it as a per stay charge than a per night charge.
