Ohange Namibia Lodge

Ohange Namibia Lodge is a delightful mountain retreat located in the heart of the Otavi Mountains to the east of Etosha. Shaded by large marula and tamboti trees, the lodge overlooks a landscape as breathtaking as it is peaceful. In the foreground, many different species of wildlife wander slowly in and out at most times of day and night to satisfy their thirst at the waterhole. Further away, the dramatic vista of the Otavi mountain range stretches as far as the eye can see.

Apparently scattered on a leafy hillside close to the main Ohange building is a pleasantly random group of 10 stone-built thatched African-style bungalows, well separated for privacy, but still within close reach of the central facilities, and enjoying a direct view of the waterhole and the distant mountains. Each bungalow is equipped with comfortable twin beds and a large en-suite shower room with open-plan toilet and wash basin.

Plaster-rendered walls topped by thatched roofs provide cool during the heat of the day and warmth at night. Ohange is connected to mains electricity supply and has reliable power to operate the ceiling fan and the kettle for making tea and coffee. The front of each bungalow is built to incorporate a shaded verandah with seating for watching wildlife, while the footpaths that wind up to the bungalows are illuminated at night offering safety and a different perspective on the trees above.

A short distance away from the main complex, our superb swimming pool stands perched on a steep hill, surrounded by an attractive patio with a small thatched relaxation area, sharing with the pool uninterrupted views of the Otavi mountains.

Beyond the bounds of Ohange Mountain Lodge, guests may drive to arguably the finest game-viewing park in Africa - Etosha National Park. The Namutoni Gate is easily reached, and from there it is possible to fill the rest of the day with a pleasant drive around the salt-pan landscape which harbours large numbers of many mammal species and abundant birdlife. Ohange Namibia Lodge is situated in the Otavi Mountains on the tarred B1 main highway, approximately 28 km north of Otavi and 30 km south of Tsumeb.
