Old Sam's Cottage is situated just outside of the town of Bredasdorp. It is located on a farm and affords nature-loving guests a unique opportunity to view the free-roaming eland.

This charming cottage has one en-suite bedroom, making it a great option for couples. The comfortable living space has a well-equipped kitchenette for all of your self-catering needs.

The cottage is ideal for guests hoping to escape the modern world. There is no electricity at the cottage and power is supplied by gas, lanterns and rechargeable lights. A donkey-type hot water system also ensures that guests have access to hot water.

The Karsrivier is not too far away and is a great spot for fishing enthusiasts. Birdwatchers will also not be disappointed by the abundance of species in the area. The farm has many biking and walking trails for guests to enjoy. The evening provides the ideal time to relax on the patio while appreciating picturesque views of the surrounding area.

Great stay! by

After we found out to get a warm shower, this was one of our best stays in SA. 

Relaxing and traquil by

Not having cell reception and electricity ended up being a blessing, with a forced cut-off from the outside world.

The "donkey" worked really well and heats the water better than any geyser after 15 minutes!

An excellent getaway from city life!


What a Gem! by

My biggest concern about this place was while staying here with my wife, was the safety issue, as we got the impression we would be in total isolation.. and to put your mind at ease. You very safe! The no electricity was awesome, a chance to switch off and re connect. The peacefulness of the Old Sam's Cottage is intoxicating.. you short of nothing and the Corrie and Cecilia were absolute legends.. and there's a swimming hole ;) which was a nice surprise aswell. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights at Old Sam's Cottage and will definitely be back again. The Zebras, Elands, Springbok were an amazing site when waking up.. the moon and stars were ridiculous as well. p.s Telescope and Binoculars will kick your stay up a bit, but not necessary.

The tranquility by

The cottage is perfect - just big enough and has everything you need. The river is safe to swim in and a lovely cool experience on a hot day.
