Ol Tukai Lodge is one of the best spots in the world to watch elephants with the backdrop of Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. Writers have described Ol Tukai and the surrounding Amboseli National Park as ?a home for the Gods'. Ol Tukai is an eco-rated lodge, having excellent outdoor and indoor facilities with its unique collection of African art, and the property receives overwhelming response from the international and local tourism market.
Accommodation is offered in luxury chalet-style twin rooms, all with an uninterrupted view of the wetlands or Kilimanjaro. Stylish and comfortable, the rooms feature private bathrooms and individual terraces. Two of the rooms are also designed to conform to EU standards to accommodate physically challenged guests. The beautifully appointed rooms provide quality, comfort and attention to detail and the presence of the wilderness can be felt in the silence of the night.
Lunch is served out on the veranda and on most occasions, elephants, zebra and buffalo can be spotted just metres away from the fence. The restaurant serves a la carte menus as well as set buffets. Theme nights are held throughout the week and include barbecues and Swahili fish menus. In addition, the kitchen has an in-house vegetarian and Indian cuisine chef.
The Pool Bar serves snacks and drinks between meal times and our barman will make up special fruit punches while you soak up the sun. The Elephant Bar is situated between the lounge and dining room. This open-air bar serves a wide selection of beers, cocktails, liqueurs and fresh fruit juices. Above the bar, a roof level deck offers a splendid panorama of the marshlands and Kilimanjaro.
The crystal clear waters of the swimming pool are shaded by the occasional acacia tree and the pool deck has sun beds for relaxation and soaking up the afternoon African sunshine before the evening game drive. Guests can relax in the lounge and play board games which are available from the reception, while souvenirs and personal toiletries can be purchased at our well-stocked shop which is open daily.
Excursions and activities include game drives, Maasai dancing, bird walks and lectures hosted regularly by researchers from Elephant Research Centre situated within the property. There are also lectures on the Maasai community conducted by our Maasai culturalist.
