Oppi-C offers two comfortable and practical self-catering apartments situated in Strandfontein. Each apartment has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a double- and a single bed and can accommodate up to five guests. Each apartment consists of a fully equipped kitchen leading into the open-plan living area, DStv Guesthouse Bouquet channels in the lounge area, a barbecue area outside and a plunge pool.

Strandfontein is a small seaside village situated near the mouth of the Olifants River. Strandfontein has evolved from being a small rural beach resort to a bustling tourist hub, especially during the wildflower season. Strandfontein has become a popular holiday destination because of the excellent opportunities for the observation of Southern Right whales; they come close to shore in the protective bay during their calving season.

The long white sandy beach at Strandfontein stretches for kilometres and the clear blue sea is a draw card for anglers due to the abundance of crayfish and mussels found in these waters. Besides excellent fishing at Strandfontein, there are a wide variety of water sport activities available as well. A safe tidal pool and playground will keep children entertained for hours and there is a slipway for rubber boats. Other activities include quad biking, 4x4 trails, hiking, microlight flights and gyrocopter trips.

Beautiful town, full of character by

We booked Oppic on the basis of the main picture, which is also present on our booking confirmation. Upon arrival we found ourselves placed in a flat adjacent to the one presented in the main pic. Whilst it was fine, we did feel that we were "conned" into a flat we might otherwise not have booked. This was a case of having to read between the lines and asking the right questions. Lesson learnt! Each flat should have its own ad with pictures pertaining to the relevant flat. It was clean, very well located, with lovely sea views. Pedestrian traffic walked right in front of the bedroom window, which had no lace. If curtains and blinds not closed, no privacy!

Dissappointed by

View fantastic and that's all. Seating in the sitting room very poor and uncomfortable. We left 2 days earlier due to a snake problem as reported to Leonies guest house. We were long gone after submitting the keys when they only phoned and informed us that we could move to another unit.

Establishment response:

1. On arrival Sonja pointed out that she was in the very same unit 3 years ago so I presume that she knew of the type of seating (low backrests) installed in the lounge for the sole purpose of not interfering with the incredible views.
2. When I listened in amazement to the story about the snake they saw in the rocks both Sonja and her partner repeatedly said "......not worry", and then they drove of, as I met them in the street. I therefore did not even have a chance to think of offering an alternative place. It was only when I got back in the office when we sent an SMS regarding the possibility of another unit, an SMS was sent because Sonja did not answer the phone when we called. Furthermore on the alleged encounter with the snake we were not called for assistance or even notified by SMS, the first we heard the story was when by coincidence met Sonja and her partner in the street still in the car and received the key for the flat from them.
3. Since then I have established from conservationists that snakes could possibly enter the town in search of water and food because of the severe drought we are experiencing. However although we searched for the alleged snake no one could find a trace of it or for that matter of its shed skin as suggested by Sonja. The only explanation is that the snake was just a passer by as there is an open stand in front of the unit occupied by them.
It was really a strange encounter. As far as the snake is concerned I hope the snake has found its way to the veld and live happily ever after.

Weekend breakaway by

Very neat and really well situated. Perfect for an out of season breakaway.
