The Lodge is situated on a hilltop facing northwest with breathtaking views overlooking a valley's with magnificent sunsets and 360° view. Discover the culture of Namibia's indigenous nomadic Ovahimba people. The lodge is also within easy reach of Kaoko Otavi, Epupa Falls and Swartboois Drift.Road conditions are excellent between Kamanjab and Opuwo (tarmac). The last 85km to Ruacana are excellent but on gravel road.

Opuwo is the gateway to the Kaokoveld region in the northwestern part of Namibia. The remote area south of the Kunene river is the home of the Himba people, who have kept their ethnic individuality and culture in the seclusion of Kaokoland. Opuwo Country Lodge was officially opened by His Excellency, Hifikipunyu Pohamba on 25 August 2005. The lodge provides comfortable luxury accommodation with air conditioning and will be ideal base from where to explore Kaokoland.

Accommodation: 28 Luxury rooms, 12 standard rooms, dining room, bar, lounge, wine cellar, curio shop, patio and swimming pool. Self-drive excursions to Epupa Falls, Swartboois drift (Kunene), Kaoko, Otavi and other points of interest or a guided excursion to an authentic Himba village can be undertaken.

Best place to stay in Opuwo and around by

I have been to this lodge many times during 2007-08. It is simply the best place to stay in Opuwo. Both food and accommodation are so superior to anything around that there is no comparison.

The lack of interest of the management! by

If the management would let show a little bit more interest in their business, the staff would also work harder! It was to much for the management to come and meet their guests! They forget we are the ones where they live from. They were even rude against their guests! Food could be better especially the breakfast, and when you had done with eaten at evening they closed the doors and they put out the lights while we were sit there with a wine and talking with some friends at 10.10pm.

I can assure you that we are more busy in and around the hotel than you will ever know ? are staff is hardworking and loyal, but it is season time and we do get guests that do not understand the industry and the money differences like yourself ? In Namibia the Namibian Dollar and the Rand are one on one and we cannot give you discount because according to you there is a difference and when the 3rd person explaining to you that we cannot change the money other than one on one ? you started complaining about the closing time of the Bar, etc. Would you have different comments if we gave you discount that was not allowed? . As you will remember ? we asked firstly whether you and your partners would like another drink ? you declined after which we closed the bar ? but we will keep your comments about that as something to learn from. Funny enough ? in our guest comments book on the same days that you were here, people commented about the good food???? I wish you happy ? other memories about your stay at Opuwo Country Lodge.

The reception and restaurant was impressive. The rooms were clean and comfortable but very small. Unfortunately one could hear every sound and movement of the people in the next rooms.

This was our third stay and the service was as good as ever.

Such a pity our stay was so short - a stunning place, super friendly and helpfull staff and perfect facilities. Not to mention the most fantastic breakfast!
