Palm Grove Lodge is nestled between beautiful palm trees and sandy beaches, in Praia da Barra.

The accommodation consist of the traditional Mozambique reed houses called Casas and Casitas, as well as self-catering cottages. Each cottage has an open-plan living area with ceiling fans, a kitchenette, and a patio with braai facilities.

The restaurant and bar is set on the beach, offering delicious meals overlooking the ocean. There is also a communal braai area, ideal for guests to socialize.

Activities in the area include deep-sea fishing, diving, snorkelling, beach volleyball and jumping castles for the kids.

The pool was a huge plus and the restaurant's food great The staff and the owners very friendly and helpful. The only down side was that we battled with warm water for showering. As this was a new unit it was understandable. Cleanliness I gave only 3 stars as I felt the cupboards could have been cleaned better prior to our arrival. Value for money I also gave a 3 as it was a new unit and hot water was a problem, and the beds in the loft were really not comfortable. Overall well done to the owners Adam and Leigh for all their assistance and friendliness!! Facilities I rated 4 stars as it would be really great if there were more shaded areas around the pool area. Possibly a kiddies pool.

Most stinking water ever and i have been visiting Mozambique and specifically Barra Reef for more than 15 years annually. We still await our fresh drinking water. To not even have ice outside of season is pathetic to say the least and an exchange of 4Mtz for 1ZAR when the official rate is already 5.4Mtz to 1 ZAR, really?

It has potential by

The accomodation has potential for improvement, they just need to make sure they close up all the opening on the roof because it create route for mosquitoes to enter with ease. It wasn't easy to sleep because mosquitoes enter through the openings on the roof and also maybe tile the house to make it a bit elegant. In addition proper roof ceiling will reduce mosquitoes and also fencing at room 2 will create protection because it is too open to the public, when they see you sitting by the veranda they come sell because it is easy access to public. I loved the restaurant, beautiful and the pool always sparkling.
