Poortje is the ideal short holiday destination for weekends and mid-week breaks. Poortje Game Farm comprises of three beautiful stone cottages and two wood cabins situated in the grasslands of the Free State, tucked away and accessed only via serene gravel road.The cottages and cabins are surrounded by ancient rock walls and kraals shaped by a vibrant farm history. Several species of game traverse the farm and gather in the idyllic valley near the Vaal River. Because of the intimate setting of the accommodation, we particularly accommodate groups of friends or family for special events. However, due to its secluded location Poortje is not the most ideal stop and go accommodation especially when arriving at night and it is therefore suggested that guests stay more than a single night.We offer visitors an opportunity to experience the tranquility of the Free State with an array of wildlife on the farm, or walk with undisturbed freedom around the farm with cattle, sheep and fresh air for the whole family. Poortje Game Farm is a perfect breakaway opportunity from the busy city life to peaceful farm where stars fill the night sky and fresh air clears the mind only an hour's drive from the Vaal Triangle, JHB and the East Rand.
