Saint du Barrys is situated at the foot of the Cedarberg in the historic town of Clanwilliam, which is 220 km from Cape Town on the N7. The coastal town of Lambert's Bay is 60 km to the west of Clanwilliam and the Namibian border is 470 km to the north. All five of the suites open onto the garden which has a huge wild fig tree in the centre. This tree is well over a hundred years old and gives the lodge its own ambience of peace and protection. Guests are welcome to relax in the garden around the fish pond, to use the splash pool and to enjoy drinks on the shaded veranda or in the guest lounge in the hundred-year-old section of the lodge.
Jams, warm bread, fresh muffins and muesli are all home-made and contribute to a delightful breakfast. Dinners are served by arrangement and are an outstanding highlight at Saint du Barry's. Guests return regularly to enjoy Joan's preparation of the freshest ingredients in ways that enhance their natural flavours. Having drinks on the patio or at the fish pond in the late afternoon while watching the light change from gold to pink and dark blue is a favourite past time for guests.
This country lodge is more than a B&B; it is a home with a reputation for comfort, personal attention, friendliness and helpfulness. The Swiss and Scottish backgrounds of the hosts, Wally and Joan, create an atmosphere of cheerfulness and generosity, and the friendly dogs and cats are at hand to create a homely experience for guests who miss their pets. The parrot, Ramius the Red October, is capable of amusing an audience for hours.
We are fully licensed, family friendly, and we offer free WiFi throughout the guesthouse and garden, laundry facilities, books and gifts. Secure under-cover parking is available. Visa, Master and Amex cards are accepted.
