Behind Port Elizabeth in uncharted Eastern Cape mountains Sand River Getaway offers you a place to unwind, adventure, relax and explore. There are a number of scenic hikes and trails. A short drive and you are in Addo National Park, the Baviaanskloof, Groendal Nature Reserve or the Longmore Forest which all offer spectacular views and trails. If you are not feeling adventurous, breathe in the valley while you enjoy personal pleasures from a sunny deck or in a quiet pool. Perfect for backpackers visiting the Eastern Cape area or a weekend getaway for everyone. Sand River Getaway is an Eco getaway where we are trying to live a sustainable existence, with the hot water and the fridge using gas and lights in the Center being solar powered. The bathroom, kitchen and braai areas are all centralized. Our water comes from a borehole and is delicious. We keep the lighting minimal so that you can see the incredible stars at night. These elements of our establishment mean we urge guests to be mindful and understanding when using facilities. We offer double and single accommodation in permanent tents and a dorm which sleeps 8. The centre is set up with a fully equipped kitchen and a great braai (bbq) are for you to be able to be fully self catered.At Sand River Getaway there is a great bar area with a self catering bar and dart board.. Things you should bring: Drinks (alcohol and soft), ice, Lamp or torch, food for your meals, towels, toiletries, jackets for the chilly evenings, walking shoes if you plan to do some hiking trails. We sell wood at R30 per large bag, but please feel free to bring your own if you wish.Payment upon arrival by cash or EFT.Check in from 12:00 to 20:00 .Check out before 12:00 .Taxes included.Breakfast not included.General:There is someone available at all times. No curfew.Pet friendly if owners see fit.There is a well graded dirt road on the last section of the road. Only 17 kms on the dirt. We do it in a small car every day so not to worry.Please note that you will need to bring everything to the hostel that you need to eat and drink as we do not have a shop very close by.
