Shalom Bed and Breakfast is nestled in the beautiful Strand, close to Somerset West and Gordon's Bay. Here guest can stay in either one of four guest rooms, or a private self-catering cottage. The accommodation would suite business travellers, contract workers, a bride with her bridesmaids, or a couple looking for a peaceful retreat.The four lovely guest rooms are all beautifully decorated and include a bar fridge, limited DStv channels, en-suite bathrooms and tea ad coffee-making facilities. The private cottage is ideal for a family. The cottage has one bedroom, a full bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen and living room with a TV. Guests can make use of the communal braai area and relax outside in the garden. A lovely breakfast is served under the lemon trees or in the family dining room.Shalom Bed and Breakfast is walking distance from the Strand beach, public swimming pool, restaurants, shopping centre, Supermarkets as well as the locals' stalls on the beachfront. Other nearby entertaining amenities include wine estates, the most famous Strawberry Farm, Butterfly World, Monkey Town and much more.

Home from home by

We stayed at Shalom for 6 days and it was like home from home. The room was very clean and very comfortable with great breakfast every morning. The hostess made us feel at home. We will definitely be back and recommend Shalom to family and friends.

Room by

We had a good time at Shalom although we did not spend most of our time there as we were travelling a lot during the day. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Overall and Unpleasant Stay by

We arrived at Shalom to be checked in and it seemed like a welcoming start.

The next day we went out to do shopping as it it was a self catering, upon our return cutlery, crockery and even all supplies were removed from the unit - already creating an unwelcoming feeling.

Everyday for our 9 day stay we were welcomed with furniture being moved and a non functional TV. The rooms were cleaned on some days, the towels and sheets were not changed, resulting is us using smelly towels and sandy sheets. Toilet papers were not replaced and we even had a glass which we broke and threw away in the trash on the kitchen counter after a day of us being out.

The maintenance and upkeep of the bed and breakfast is very untidy - there is a lot of clutter.

The owner tried to make us feel welcome but we really did not have a pleasant stay and felt like there was no privacy. We felt like we were a burden and this was very disappointing as we were hosting family from Germany and we felt like this is not how they should have portrayed South Africa or Cape Town

I would recommend that the place be run more professionally and for privacy to be respected.
