Shimoni Reef Lodge is surrounded by coral islands and the marine reserve. The local fishing community and sport fishermen remain dynamic and the environment is full of healthy marine life. Miles of amazing diving and snorkelling inside Kisite Mpunguti marine reserve are just a boat ride away, and if you are lucky visits can include seeing and swimming alongside dolphins, turtles, snappers, rays and many of the most amazing fish of the Indian Ocean. The coral is alive with colour in better condition than most reefs anywhere you will see in the world today. The Shimoni area also has an interesting and rich history and equally interesting flora and fauna.
Shimoni is full of amazing experiences; for 20 years we have served sport fisherman, scuba divers, snorkellers, dhow trippers, honeymooners and friends to explore, discover and feel the Kenya of Old, where time has mercifully stood still, and the masses have not taken over.
Now, we also offer unique accommodation, just six spacious comfortable cottages, a roof-top suite overlooking the Wasini channel, and a residential house for visitors who prefer to do some self-catering. There is also a new deep pool, a spa service, and at our bar and restaurant, a revitalised exciting menu for our guests who just want to relax and enjoy the privacy that Shimoni is special for.
Sitting on the dining terrace at Shimoni Reef before, during or after meal often involves some dolphin spotting, but always some bird spotting. Sipping your wine and coffee while watching the dhows sail up and down the channel, you realise you finally found a place where time did stand still. Meal times are totally flexible to fit your activities of the day.
