Part of the 45,000 acre Solitaire Land Trust, which is dedicated to preserving pre-Namib grassland habitat and resident wild animals, award-winning Solitaire Desert Farm is a relaxing Guest Farm experience in its own private oasis at the base of the Rand Mountains. Solitaire has a variety of endemic species including Oryx, Kudu, Springbok, Mountain Zebra and Bat-eared Fox. Many may be spotted while out on an excursion or self-guided hike. The original farmhouse, one of the first in this remote area, has been lovingly restored, and over time more rooms added to accommodate demand. Each spacious room has an en-suite shower, toilet and private deck. There are also three convenient campsites for the more adventurous traveller. Two swimming pools offer a refreshing break after a full day of activities, and many guests like to end their day with a short walk to nearby sunset ridge.

SOLITAIRE DESERT FARM RESENSIES (83 %) Erik Boot, South Africa 12 July 2014 Luxury accommodation, very friendly staff (who baked me a birthday cake) and just a really nice and relaxed atmosphere. To top it all off there is a tame Zebra walking around. Pretty and good service by Fatima Beg, South Africa 05 January 2015 Breakfast and dinner are included in price. Food is generally good - though service can be slow if everyone is ordering their eggs at the same time.
Very pretty ranch with garden and rock top view point at sunset. Friendly staff.
6 km to petrol station and other basic food option in Solitaire.
Air-con, fan, wifi, two pools, clean.
If you want to be in Sossusvlei at sunrise it makes sense to try and stay in Sesriem but if you are on your way back, as we were, you'll save an hour of your trip to Walvis Bay, Swakopmund or Windhoek. Strys Strauss, South Africa 17 December 2016 Excellent staff, good food, nice spacious room. Establishment Response: Dear Strys Strauss, Thank you for staying at Solitaire Desert Farm. It was our pleasure hosting you, we hope to see you someday again when you visit Namibia. Kind regards, Frans du Raan Professional staff by Yvonne Coetzee 19 January 2018 A little bit of a misunderstanding about the rooms that were booked on our arrival, but it was quickly & efficiently resolved and we enjoyed a great stay & delicious breakfast. The signage to reach the Desert Farm could be improved. Establishments response: Dear Yvonne, Thank you very much for your kind review. Solitaire Desert Farm is glad you enjoyed your stay. We will bring your comment to the attention of the owners regarding the signage. Wonderful spot by Mandy Howard 14 April 2018 We enjoyed our stop over. Setting is lovely and peaceful. Pool was great and the views of the sunsetting on the surrounding hills was beautiful. Rooms are a little tired but clean. One of our group had no hot water which was a problem. The breakfast was tasty and the service good. Supper, a very small steak, tiny portion of chips and equally small salad, was over priced at R140!! Overall though it was a pleasant experience. Thank you. SOLITAIRE DESERT FARM LIGGING
