St Lucia Safari Lodge has the best of both worlds; it is on the main road of town, yet a few minutes' drive from the wonders of the wetlands. St Lucia Safari Lodge is the ideal place to base your holiday travels. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the rat-race and savour the sunny, relaxed lifestyle in an exotic setting.
The lodge offers fully serviced self-catering chalets with en-suite bathrooms offering baths and showers. Each chalet has its own private balcony and secure parking bay; and a TV with selected DStv channels. We also offer Bed and Breakfast Chalets with bar fridges, coffee-making facilities and en-suite bathrooms with showers only. All units have air-conditioning, telephones and hairdryers. There are braai facilities available on request and the lodge has a sparkling swimming pool with a luxury lapa and where guests can enjoy meals.
The complex is ideal for tour groups and families. Explore the lake on a hippo cruise, take a safari to the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Big 5 Game Reserve, go deep sea fishing or do whale and dolphin watching. There are walking trails, turtle tours, night drives and beach adventures; there is a world of wonder waiting for you in the Greater St Lucia Wetlands World Heritage Site.
The lake and surrounding area, as well as the wetlands surrounding it, teems with hippos, crocodiles and many other wild animals. Birds include fish eagles, hornbills, goliath herons, paddle-billed storks, green pigeons, loeries, narina and trogons to name a few. It is probably South Africa's best bird-viewing area with over 520 identified species here. Unspoilt beaches stretch for many hundreds of kilometres. Cape Vidal offers excellent snorkelling and protected swimming.
