Set in spacious surroundings within the tranquil and secure equestrian suburb of Beaulieu Country Estate, you will find Thatch and Thorn, a 4 Star private bed and breakfast-style guest house. Four charming suites open onto either an individual deck or patio from which guests can stroll out into the spacious, leafy garden.

This is home to an amazing variety of indigenous birds for observation, or you may watch the contented munching of horses in the paddocks close by. Breakfast caters for all tastes, served on the main patio overlooking the pool and garden whilst dinners can be arranged on request. Beaulieu borders on Kyalami Equestrian Park and the Gauteng Horse Society, where major events in Gauteng take place and boasts delightful walks and bridle trails as well as an extensive bird sanctuary for enthusiasts. A short distance away is the Midrand business district, centrally located between both Johannesburg and Pretoria cities, and close to major highways leading to OR Tambo International Airport or Lanseria Airport. In addition, the completion of the Gautrain Terminal in Midrand will mean a 10-minute drive to the guest house.

Thatch and Thorn has an elegant yet earthy ambience which, combined with the highest standards and personal attention, appeals to the most discerning guests. Each suite has been tastefully decorated, with a coordinated colour theme, by a creative young interior designer. Two suites occupy the top level which is open thatch with a private wooden deck, whilst the other two are on the ground level and open onto their own private patios. En-suite bathrooms feature either a walk-in shower or free-standing bath. All rooms are equipped with satellite televisions, safe boxes, wireless Internet access, heaters, fans, tea and coffee facilities, and bar fridges. With the exception of one queen-size bed, all rooms have king-size beds with quality mattresses and pristine white linen, with extra blankets available for chilly Highveld winter nights.
