Welcome to Thayu, a homely retreat and conference centre, set on five acres of farmland, just 30 minutes' drive from Nairobi city off the old Limuru Road. Set in mature flower gardens with indigenous trees, Thayu offers you complete relaxation, whether you are on a safari or a business retreat.

?Thayu' is the local word for ?peace'. It was inspired by the undulating hills, ever-green countryside and the serenity that you cannot help feeling when you set foot into Thayu. The pleasant climate and the crisp, reinvigorating, upland air have made it a perfect sanctuary for those seeking to get away from the city. The buildings are designed to blend into the environment, offering you refreshing scenery, peace and quiet. Our staff will give you the best of Kenyan hospitality and personalised attention.

Thayu accommodation comprises of cottages, an annex and a renovated farm house. There are five cottages, all designed like the traditional Gikuyu hut. Each has a modern bathroom, two bedrooms, and an equipped kitchenette. It also contains a country-style living room with a cosy fireplace to gather guests and family over a drink. You can also sit on the porch, watch as the sun sets or enjoy reading your favourite book. Occasionally you may catch sight of a colubus monkey swing among the trees.

The Annex houses nineteen tastefully designed self-contained rooms, a blend of country and African influences. Each is furnished with modern amenities and a reading area to help you catch up with some work. The rooms provide easy access to each other for those travelling together. The balcony overlooks a flower garden. Here you can sit reading or catch a drink as the night falls.

The farm house comprises of six elegantly designed self-contained rooms, a common lounge and exclusive board-room, combining a modern touch with African influences. Each room is furnished with modern amenities and a reading area to help you catch up with some work.

Our restaurant offers guests a chance to enjoy a wide variety of tantalising indigenous and exotic dishes in a natural ambience; prepared to guests' specifications. Dishes ranging from local, farm fresh delicacies to exotic cuisine, all prepared to suit our guest's specifications. Our guests also have the option of preparing their own food in the self-catering cottages.
