Casa Oito Chalet at Pomene Ridge is a solar-powered and self-catering chalet. It has wondrous views over lagoon and sea. One requires an adventurous 4x4 to access this pristine stretch of Mozambique's coastline; a definite paradise to visit. The rustic and comfortable self-catering chalets are within easy walking distance of the beach. They provide a perfect destination for one to relax and unwind, far away from the clamour of civilization; an excellent destination for true nature lovers.
Stroll along the beautiful deserted beaches, swim to one's heart's content, body surf, kite board, scuba dive, snorkel in the warm waters of the lagoon as well as the Indian Ocean, kayak through the mangrove creeks, enjoy the plethora of bird and marine life, sail, or simply relax and enjoy the incredible sunrises from the cottages or sunsets on the beach.
Three Kaskazi Duo kayaks with light-weight wing paddles are included in the rates. Try Wharram Sailing Catamaran to explore the estuary with a skipper. Sailing lessons may be available and may be included in the rates. There are kayaking lessons if you have not kayaked before. A guide may be available to show you where to go explore.
Casa Oito is one of eight of the chalets found on Pomene Ridge. It is solar powered and welcomes non-smokers and nature lovers. It has an outdoor braai area. There is a small library, a large living room mosquito net, cell phone reception and a standby generator set as the chalet is solar powered.
This chalet is attractively appointed and boasts natural materials; reed walls with a grass-thatched roof. It has three bedrooms accommodating up to six guests with single or queen-size beds surrounded by large mosquito nets. The bathroom is spacious with a shower, a toilet and a basin. Cotton towels and cotton bedding are supplied.
The kitchen is stocked with cutlery and crockery, pots and pans and more. It also has a solar-operated fridge and a deep freeze; Steca 166 litres each. The cooker is gas with three plates and an oven. The dining area features locally made tables and chairs, and the lounges have comfortable cushion-covered couches where one can relax with a book. Also included are camp chairs, shady brachystegia trees, bird calls, clean air and no traffic noises or sirens.
Please note that although the chalet is solar powered, it is advisable to bring some petrol with for cloudy days to run the generator. Some petrol will also be required to run the water pump. For a short stay, 10 litres is sufficient. Please also note that the stove is run off gas. Gas and fuel can be supplied by prior arrangement.
