The Elgin Grabouw Country Club was founded in 1987 by passionate people who saw the potential of this magnificent setting and established it as a recreational sporting and social facility. The old manager's house on the premises were no longer used for its intended purpose, so management decided to transform this perfectly situated building into a guest house.The Guest House is located in the Kogelberg biosphere region, which is rich in fauna and flora, situated on the edge of the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve in the Elgin Valley, only one hour's drive from Cape Town. It has a genuine country feel with beautiful views of the lake, mountains and nature reserve, which contributes to the tranquil, family environment.This is a charming self-catering unit, sleeping six, consists of two bedrooms, a private bathroom, an open-plan living area with a fireplace and two extra single beds and a fully equipped kitchen. There is a sunny patio area with braai facilities available overlooking the cricket field, forest, maintains and dam.Grabouw is set in a lush green paradise with vast stretches of forests, orchards and vineyards. It is renowned not only for its apples and for fruit, but also for its wine and roses. Take a short drive to one of the beautiful farms for wine tasting or just for sightseeing. There are also cycling and hiking routes, which is very conveniently situated right next to the Club's premises. Other activities on the premises include, bass fishing, squash, tennis, rowing/kayaking and swimming.(Please note that due to the severe drought, all water activities in the Eikenhof dam have been suspended by the Water Users Association, until further notice.)
