The Hooting Owl guest house is a unique African thatch bushveld lodge set in a coastal environment. This hidden jewel was custom-built to blend harmoniously into its surroundings. The Hooting Owl is located in Marina Beach, on the Kwa-Zulu Natal South Coast, approximately two hours' drive south from Durban's King Shaka International Airport.
The guest house is set in a sub-tropical forest with valley views and prolific bird life. Numerous bird species, vervet monkeys, grey and blue dyker and small bush buck inhabit the surrounding areas.
We provide our visitors with good quality, affordable self-catering accommodation. There is plenty of safe parking inside the premises; guests will receive a remote for easy access through the electric security gate during their stay. All guest areas are covered by an in-house alarm system linked to Chubb Armed Response.
The guest house can also be booked as a clothing-optional retreat for naturist groups by special arrangement, for complete peace, quiet and privacy, with valley views over the sub-tropical forest conservation area.
When the weather is good there are five Blue Flag beaches to choose from, Marina Beach or San Lameer being the closest.
