The Olive Thrush cottage offers a peaceful and tranquil retreat, within a few minutes' walk of the Karoo's beautiful countryside and about a ten minutes' walk from the picturesque town of Prince Albert.Beautifully decorated and fully equipped for self-catering, the cottage accommodates up to four guests in one bedroom and one bathroom. The bedroom has one extra length king-size bed, and two extra length single beds. The bathroom has a large shower and soft-fluffy towels. The more adventurous have the option to shower outside, under the stars.The living room is in an open-plan layout, and includes a dining area, kitchen and sitting area with fireplace. The cottage has air-conditioning, mosquito nets and mosquito screens on the windows. A laundry service is available for an additional fee.After a hot summer's day you can enjoy your sun-downers at our dam under the trees providing shade and watch the nest-building weavers and listen to the chatter of the birds.The cottage has its own private, secluded and shady braai/barbeque area from where one could see the Karoo stars.

We stayed at the Olive Thrush for two nights and were enchanted. The setting by a dam with boats to use, as well as the very comfortable furnishings and finishes made our stay very special. The Olive Thrush is a five minute stroll to town and being situated at the edge of Prince Albert also allows for easy access to biking and walking in the Karoo countryside. Paul and Margeritue are lovely hosts. Can recommend to anyone.

A week in the Great Karoo by

We have just spent a blissfilled week at The Olive Thrush and experienced first hand Paul and Margeurite's warm hospitality as well as their delicious home grown oranges and lemons. Paul kept us well stocked with firewood for the cool winter evenings and all in all we are feeling very relaxed and rested.
