The Palms AlbertiniaAlbertinia, Western Cape, South Africa Gastehuis | (POA) |
The Palms, a beautiful Cape Dutch home, is situated in the quaint town of Albertinia, Western Cape, halfway between Riversdale and Mossel bay. The Palms has recently been renovated after a tragic fire left the house a gutted ruin. Following an arduous restorative journey, this home has been restored to its former glory and is ready to be enjoyed by those who seek a tranquil, scenic, and private home where they can relax and unwind.
Enjoy an evening glass of wine at sunset around a fire, with the Langeberg mountains in the background and wake up to tea, coffee and biscuits which can be enjoyed in your room, or under the sprawling, sunlit Red Pepper trees with a variety of birdlife overhead. The enormous gardens offer a safe, child friendly environment, with swings and slides for them to enjoy while the parents get a chance to relax.
The rooms have been beautifully furnished with four poster beds dating back to the mid 18 hundreds and have a somewhat Victorian, yet modern feel.
The beach is twenty minutes away and there are several stunning walks along the coast and in the mountains, all of which are child friendly. The Fransmanshoek area is particularly beautiful to hike, as are the magnificent, Vynbos filled mountains. There is a very interesting museum (The Albertinia museum) within walking distance and of course Albertina is the home of the aloe, producing an amazing array of aloe products, found just down the road at Alcare Aloe shop. The Garden Route Game Lodge, which includes the big five, is five minutes away and nearby Jackals Vlei, is our local vineyard and fine dining restaurant.
Whilst the environment lends itself to a relaxing family experience, it is also perfect for a business stop over, for someone needing to break the long journey between the east coast and Cape Town. The property is within a kilometre of the N2 making it easily accessible.
