Lying 5 km from Citrusdal, at the foothills of the Cederberg, Wolfkop Nature Reserve is a 450-hectare reserve offering privately appointed cottages and a variety of outdoor activities.
Accommodation is provided in four cottages blending neatly into the setting, with beautiful views of the Olifants River Valley. Individually decorated with African art and colours, each cottage has a unique ambience. Tolbos, Boegoe and Botterboom have two bedrooms each. The rooms have queen size beds as well as two extra sleeper couches in the living area for two additional guests. Harpuishuis features five bedrooms all en-suite. There are also two sleeper couches in the living area for additional guests.
All the rooms have comfortable mattresses and percale bedding. The kitchen is open plan and well-equipped. The lounge area boasts high ceilings, deep sofas for the obligatory afternoon siestas, and an open fireplace to accompany a fine glass of plonk in winter. Double doors open onto a terrace fitted with a Jacuzzi, while at the back there is a dedicated jungle gym for the kids staying at Tolbos and Boegoe.
You can also spot a variety of animal life, from duikers to porcupine and tortoises; you may even stumble across leopard spoor. Depending on the time of year, there are various flowers in bloom. Make sure you get here in August and September for the classic psychedelic daisy displays. Hiking and mountain bike trails, fishing in the dam or river, canoeing, San Bushman paintings, great rock formations and diverse fynbos are just some of the things you can experience here. And then there's the wider Cederberg Wilderness Area and Citrusdal itself.
