African Safari Lodge is situated on a private game reserve 17km outside of Grahamstown. The lodge is perched 20 meters above the high water mark on the Settlers dam with breath-taking views up river. Animal and bird sightings along the river banks are a guaranteed occurrence from the spacious viewing porches. The Lodge borders the Thomas Baines Nature Reserve, situated in the main water catchment area of Grahamstown at the confluence of two rivers ? the dominant Kariega River flowing 40km further to meet the Indian Ocean at Kenton-on-Sea.
The fully serviced Main lodge features 3 en-suite bedrooms, a loft room, a guest lounge and kitchen facilities. Each room is furnished with either a king-size bed or twin beds. Amenities available to guests include fans, heaters, hairdryers and tea- and coffee-making facilities. A radio and TV is available on request.The lodge has a spacious patio with braai (barbeque) area one overlooks the river where one can view zebra, buffalo and antelope, among many others animals and birdlife.

Two beautiful self-catering River Units overlooking the Kariega River has been added to the Private Game Reserve. Fully equipped Kitchen with en-suite bathroom, shower and bath, DSTV, private patio with braai facilities with stunning views over the river.

There is a 4,5km gravel road leading to the lodge It could be a slight challenge for sports cars with low profile tyres. If guests cross the speedbumps at an angle and stick to the speedlimit it should alleviate most of the concerns. Road maintenance is done on a regular basis.
