The Spier HotelStellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa Hotel (R 1,700) | R 1,700 |
The 4 Star Spier Hotel was one of the first luxury hotels in South Africa to be awarded the "Fair Trade in Tourism SA" accreditation in 2004. This means that wherever possible, Spier looks for ways to support local industry and communities and aims to minimize the impact of its activities on the environment. Achieving this while still offering guests a luxury experience is a distinction in which Spier takes great pride.
The hotel's 153 rooms are situated in village-style buildings grouped around six private courtyards. Each courtyard has its own swimming pool and is connected by gardens and walkways. These walkways also connect the rooms with the reception area, lounge, bar, terrace and restaurant.
Feast; for elegant a la carte dining, the hotel's restaurant is well appointed. Both restaurant and wine bar strive to source the freshest available produce for the menus from a range of local farmers and suppliers. Subject to seasonal variations and availability, this may include organic fruit and vegetables, handpicked herbs from our own gardens, as well as free range eggs. We only serve fish graded as the most sustainable by The South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative.
The design of the hotel is predominantly influenced by the architecture of the buildings in the older part of Cape Town, known as the Bo-Kaap and that of Mediterranean villages where pedestrians have right of way. The reception area, lounge, bar, terrace and restaurant feature a vibrant style with strong colours, patterns and textures that echo nature's designs and a collection of art that explores contemporary South African culture.
