Bamboo Beach Backpackers, Xai Xai

Bamboo Beach Backpackers situated on the main beach of Praia de Xai Xai in Gaza province of southern Mozambique, 220 km north of Maputo on main route, En4.

Praia do Xai-Xai (beach of Xai-Xai) is approximately 12 kilometers from Xai-Xai. It has been a popular tourist attraction since Mozambican tourism was first developed. If you are on holiday, a backpacker or just a passerby with no transport, you can also catch the bus or a chapa(taxi)in or out of town, or even a friendly local could offer you a lift.

A 4x4 vehicle is not essential, as most of the bars and lodges are accessible by car. A coral reef running parallel to the shore offers good snorkeling and protects the beach from strong waves. Swimming, snorkeling & whale watching (between June and November).

What about a nice stroll to the Wenela Tidal Pool (the blowhole), about a kilometer's walk from Bamboo Beach Bar. It includes a natural tunnel and blow hole in a reef that links the pool to the Indian Ocean. Remember to take your flops, sunscreen and your camera as there are some great pics to be taken.
