In Suurbraak, on the other side of the river, is the quaint self-catering cottage, ?Bibisjoy?, belonging to Peter and Bibi Present. Its appeal lies in its solitude and the fact that the mountain is its back-yard. This set-up is ideal for the avid outdoors-person, as mountain-biking, hiking, cross-country running, cycling, and even swimming and canoeing depending of the water level of the river, can be practiced with ease. Bibi's Joy is as promising as its name suggests. Accommodation comprises two en-suite bedrooms (and a third bathroom that can be accessed from the lounge) with double beds and bedding. There are eight sleeping stretchers, with bedding, available for the kids. The sunny and spacious living room comprises a fully furnished lounge with built in fire place (as well as a closed combustion fire place) and kitchen with Dover Stove, fridge and crockery and cutlery. 20 pieces of wood are included in the price (additional wood can be purchased on site), and there is also a gas stove. This is a haven for birders, as even the odd kingfisher is spotted on the property. Hoopoe's, the Cape robin, a variety of sugar birds, fiscal shrike, forktailed drongo's are found here. Goats, horses and cattle on the adjacent plots add character and complement the country feel. One of the reasons the main gate must be kept closed at all times.Nestled at the foothills of the lush and beautiful Langeberg Mountains, lies the picturesque little town of Suurbraak. Just outside of Swellendam, Suurbraak is home to a small farming community of hearty people and is the charming thoroughfare of the DC 200; a popular annual cycle race.
