Botshabelo Guest HouseGroot Marico, North West Province, South Africa Bed and Breakfast | (POA) |
Botshabelo means ?Place of Refuge?, and that is exactly what we offer. Take a break from the humdrum and hassle of city living, and refresh in the easily accessible heart of the Marico Bushveld. Scrubland, an overarching canopy of deep blue, and faraway rolling vistas ? this really is big sky country. Groot Marico is the quintessential country village, just off the N4. Butchery, bottle stores, Post Office, general dealer, and maybe even a donkey cart ? all a way of life redolent of years gone by.
The area was inspiration for many stories told by Herman Charles Bosman. You may feel the presence of Oom Schalk himself! A Bosman Festival is held in October each year and is well worth a weekend visit.
Game drives abound in the area and character pubs help to make your stay memorable. A tour and tasting of a Mampoer distillery is a unique Marico experience, as is a visit to the Eye ? the source of the Marico River.
At Botshabelo, come enjoy a tranquil afternoon reclining in a sunbeam next to the crystal blue of the communal pool, or fancy a hike to the river where one can try their luck at fishing, or just relax and listen to the peaceful sound of water lapping against the rocks. Enjoy the delightful chirping of beautiful birds (the Kingfisher being our favourite) flitting about while devouring that novel you have been desperate to read.
The Guest House itself has 5 spectacular non-smoking en suite rooms, each with their own private entrance, veranda or wooden deck
All rooms are self-catering with tea and coffee facilities, fridge and TV with DSTV commercial package. If you wis to enjoy a breakfast on our communal stoep please let us know during the booking process for additional costs to be calculated otherwise a day in advance and payment due at time of meal.
