Bougainvillea Safari Lodge

Bougainvillea Safari Lodge is owned and managed by Tanzanians, located on the outskirts of Karatu, between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater.

We offer 32 guest rooms in total; equipped with double- or twin beds, en-suite bathrooms, mosquito nets, fireplaces and verandas overlooking the lush tropical gardens. Some rooms have interleading rooms and extra beds can be added on request for families, by prior arrangement.

There is a large common area with the reception, a lounge, a bar, a dining room and a gift shop. The swimming pool sits in the centre of the property, surrounded by the cottages and gardens. The restaurant serve family favourites and new recipes created by our wonderful chef. Guests can enjoy a relaxing massage in a quiet area, working out the kinks of the day.

The gate to the World Heritage Ngorongoro Conservation Area is only a 15-minute drive from the lodge. With about 1200 species of birds, Tanzania is one of the best places to watch our feathered friends. There is ample opportunities to visit the fascinating tribes nearby, and also walk into town where plenty of shops and markets can be explored.
