Bushbuck River House is set in 105 acres of bush on the banks of the Zambezi and is the first property beyond the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park boundary. The house is an owner run traditional Zambian farm house, which has been renovated and thatched to a high standard.
We have four rooms in the house and a short distance away Waterbuck Cottage, which has two self contained units with river views, each with two bedrooms. The downstairs unit offers self catering facilities.
There is a swimming pool, pool boma and tree house/viewing platform overlooking the river.
Located approximately 16km from the centre of town the house gives easy access to Livingstone and the Victoria Falls, whilst also providing a tranquil and secure setting. Because the property is bounded by both the National Park and the Zambezi River there are frequent sightings of bushbuck, waterbuck, elephant, hippo, duiker, buffalo, cape clawless otter, vervet monkey and baboon. Night sightings have included spotted genet, scrub hare, thick tailed bush baby and porcupine. A recent bird survey listed over 180 species. If you enjoy walking there is plenty of opportunity to do so, both on the farm itself and, if water levels are low, on one of the nearby islands in the Zambezi.
Accommodation can be on a bed and breakfast or half board basis. The evening meal is a three course set meal and food is freshly prepared and home cooked. Whenever possible we use produce from our own organic garden and orchard, but sometimes the elephants and monkeys get there first.
We can offer transfers and a booking service for activities in and around Livingstone.
